How it works
THE GHOSTWRITING PROCESS
You decide what kind of book you want to write.
Autobiography? Statement of beliefs? Family history?
You then contact me on the Get In Touch form.
We meet to discuss the outline of your project. This is best done in person, but if that is not convenient we can communicate by phone, email, or any secure online medium.
The first major step is to discuss and sign a non-disclosure and confidentiality agreement to protect your intellectual property rights.
We then agree on an overall price for the project and sign a contract whose terms will depend on your exact needs.
Typically, the contract will specify the expected length of the book and a probable timeline. It will also include your preference for American or British English and for any particular style guide that you may wish me to use, such as the Chicago Manual of Style. I can recommend an appropriate style guide, or compile one for you in accordance with your wishes.
You may decide to submit the completed manuscript to a publisher or a book agent, or publish the book yourself, online or in print, or both. I am not a book agent or a publisher, but I can help prepare a book submission that you can send to an agent or a publisher.
Typically, your name will be shown on the cover and title page of the book as the author and my name will not appear anywhere in it, unless you would prefer a different arrangement.
You will keep control of the entire process throughout.
For me to be able to put your words on the page, we will need to meet several times so that you can tell me what you want in the book and I can ask follow-up questions to ensure that I understand your intentions and can express them accurately and faithfully.
I will then show you my writing so that you can check it and suggest corrections and improvements.
The final book will be in perfect English and will not need any further editing. The price agreed will include writing, fact-checking, developmental editing, and copy editing to the highest standards of grammar, spelling, syntax, and accuracy of vocabulary.
